Community

The Patient Revolution is a global and diverse community of people with both deep knowledge and professional and lived experiences. Together, through advocacy, publications and presentations, courses and workshops, on-site coaching, and applied research, our community is actively engaged in fostering careful and kind care in healthcare.

Patients, clinicians, caregivers, and health professionals from across the spectrum, are equal participants in all education and training activities. Wherever possible, everyone will learn together

  • Safe and supportive spaces for those with different backgrounds and perspectives to work together in solidarity

  • Expertise, insights, and approaches from diverse disciplines, including those outside of healthcare

  • Storytelling, writing, speaking, observing, and making all occupy a prominent place in our collective action toolkit

  • Recognizing that system change will require a longer timeline, we design for resilience at the community level and cycles of engagement at the care activist level

Reading and Watching Clubs

Gathering people together to discuss books like Why We Revolt, journal articles, or watching movies or documentaries is a good way to kickstart a discussion about industrial healthcare and careful and kind care.

Club Tips:

  • Invite a diverse group of people with different experiences.

  • Be thoughtful when choosing readings.

  • Ask people to share from their own experiences to get people talking and make sure everyone is included.

  • If the group agrees, ask someone to take notes to share participant stories.

  • Make sure to create space for joy in the discussion.
