Anita Simon

Anita Simon holds a PhD in Nutrition and has over 20 years of experience in clinical research, community, and physician education, and healthcare management acquired from working with pharmaceutical, academic, and health service sectors. Her personal journey navigating and accessing mental health care services for her 11 year old daughter led her to co-found a community nonprofit organization, Calgary Silver Linings, to expand the continuum of care for eating disorders in Alberta and to focus her efforts on advancing and supporting youth mental health for others.
Anita actively supports researchers and health organizations as a patient advocate and consultant and is committed to utilize the tools, skills, and insights she has gained professionally and personally to improve child and youth mental health practice, knowledge, and policy. She currently serves on the Family Steering Committee of Children’s Healthcare Canada, Albertans 4 Health Research Council, Patient Advisory Network, and the Child and Youth Mental Health (CMYH) group of Imagine Citizens Network (ICN) in Alberta, Canada.
