Chris Barnes is an independent design strategist and consultant with 25+ years' experience helping healthcare clients use systems thinking and human-centered design practices to understand complex challenges, find usable insights, and craft effective communications.

Chris specializes in leading project teams to create content and experiences that are clear, meaningful, and easy for people to use. He has worked with leading public health and care-delivery organizations (Ariadne Labs, WHO, CDC, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Johns Hopkins, and others) to create tools and materials that guide care interactions, and is passionate about ethics in research and design, accessibility, and embracing hope as we work to improve care for all.

Chris holds a BA in Psychobiology from UC Santa Cruz (1988), co-founded Design for Healthcare Seattle in 2016, and loves living at the south end of Puget Sound.
