Elizabeth Lusczek
Fellow
Elizabeth (Beth) Lusczek completed degrees in physics and mathematics from Truman State University in 2001 and her PhD in biophysics from the University of Minnesota in 2011. She became faculty in the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota in 2014 and where she is currently an associate professor.
Her research interests include metabolic responses to sepsis and severe injury and precision medicine. She was born with cerebral palsy and more recently was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She offers TPR substantial blended expertise as a person who has lived with disability her entire life, a patient, and a biomedical researcher with relevant interdisciplinary expertise in data science and precision medicine.
Her experience of disability informs her scientific vision of what is possible for patients as well as her understanding of pathophysiology, the complexity of how human bodies work, and what it means to be ‘healthy’.
